The Most Breathable And Sustainable Bedding That’s Worth Every Penny

We’re in the middle of summer in New York, and I find myself waking up in the middle of the night sweating even with my AC on… It’s — one — such a waste of energy and two — quite gross. Luckily, I found an eco-friendly comforter, fitted sheet, and pillowcase set that feels just as soft and breathable as silk.

Why is sustainable bedding necessary?: We often have to wash our bedding frequently to ward off bed bugs, maintain clear skin, and generally keep it clean. Bedding materials are mostly made out of cotton and polyester. Cotton is often cultivated with toxic pesticides if it isn’t organic and even if it is, it still results in a lot of water waste in its production cycle. And polyester is a man-made fabric that sheds very tiny micro-particles of plastic each time you wash it. This plastic eventually goes into our water system and pollutes our wildlife, which is why the use of plastic is such an issue.

(Yes, that means even your polyester clothing release and shed these materials — You can use these washing bags to stop micro waste from ending up in our oceans and use code CLAIRESOB2 for a discount. *No commission made through this code).

How is Ettitude’s Bedding Sustainable?: Ettitude’s comforter, fitted sheet, and pillowcases are made of 100% bamboo. Bamboo is more sustainable because it is a natural fiber, which causes less damage to our ecosystem. Moreover, its cultivation results in less water waste, rarely requires pesticides, and grows very quickly and abundantly.

My Rating: ★★★★★

I love this bedding not only because it’s sustainable, but because it actually delivers in product performance better than that of industry standard. My philosophy is that if brands want consumers to pay a premium for sustainable and ethically-made products, it must be just as functional, high-performing, or beautiful as everything else out there. This product is cheaper than silk yet just as breathable and high-performing. I truly cannot vouch for how silky this actually feels. I wear a silk slip to bed and although the bedding doesn’t feel as slippery as the silk slip, it’s just as soft, comforting, and breathable. I haven’t slept better since I switched.

Other Notable Callouts:

1. It is hypoallergenic

2. Products are 100% Oeko-Tex® certified or some degree certified — reputable certification that confirms non-toxicity of a product

3. Washable (I already noted that, but this is amazing).

4. Most products have a 30-day sleep trial window

5. Helps treat your skin with more care
