Why Stella McCartney Is One of the Few Luxury Brands I Buy

1. Tries its best to use eco-friendly materials including vegan leather (because the livestock industry is one of the most environmentally harmful industries). Of course, it's incredibly difficult to use only "eco-friendly" fabrics in a supply chain, so it has set a deadline to eliminate hazardous chemicals in production by 2020.

2. Member of the Ethical Trading Initiative - ETI and has adopted its Code of Conduct, which includes standards for a living wage. It is transparent about its suppliers and audits some of its supply chain.

3. Stella also does not use leather, down fur, angora, shearling, or any other exotic animal skin or fur. This bag itself is vegan leather.

The other luxury bags I own are thrifted goods. I think thrifting vintage luxury goods with the intent of passing them down for generations is an amazing way to extend the lifecycle of these goods — the idea of reusing goods.
